A big thank you to Jason

He made it! Thank you Jason Alexander and everyone who played their part in the 24 hour Litter Pick this weekend. Over £2000 plus £100 in can collections was raised. Not bad for a target of £250!

Fundraisers like Jason are so special and important to us here, they raise the profile of the charity whilst raising funds to help people in Suffolk before, during AND after cancer. We cannot thank you enough Jason! What an inspiration you are.

JASON’S TIDY SUM FOR LOCAL CANCER CHARITY!

An Ipswich woman’s breast cancer diagnosis inspired a 24-hour litter pick for Cancer Campaign in Suffolk.

Debbie and Jason Alexander had lots of exciting plans for 2022 when a routine mammogram showed that Debbie had breast cancer.

The next few months were full of worry for the couple who live in Ipswich, but after Debbie’s treatment from Ipswich Hospital, they are optimistic about what the future holds.

In recognition of the work of Cancer Campaign in Suffolk, and to highlight the issue of littering and plastic pollution in our environment Jason, founder of Rubbish Walks, completed  a 24-hour litter pick across Ipswich and the surrounding areas, with an army of volunteers who joined him to raise as much money as possible.

Jason said “Debbie’s breast cancer diagnosis came completely out of the blue and knocked us sideways but we’re so grateful that a routine mammogram picked it up so early on. She continues to receive treatment and we are looking forward to the future with hope and confidence. Charities like Cancer Campaign in Suffolk are key to raising cancer awareness and I’m hoping the money I raise will go towards helping other people with a cancer diagnosis”

Karen Hare, Chief Executive of CCiS said “What wonderful selfless people we have in Suffolk. Debbie and Jason are two of them and we'd like as many people as possible to join Jason on his mammoth litter pick. It’s a brilliant idea as it will help both the local environment and those locally with a cancer diagnosis. A huge thank you to them for thinking of us at what has been a very challenging time for them and their family”

Jason’s 24-hour litter pick was held over the bank holiday weekend of 1st and 2nd May, starting at midday on the 1st May from CCiS HQ at 56-58 St. Margaret’s Street in Ipswich IP4 2BD and finish back at the offices at midday on Monday 2nd May.
